Telocollagen vs Atelocollagen Amino Acid Sequence

Telocollagen (acid extracted) and Atelocollagen (enzyme extracted) have a few differences relating to mechanical properties of formed collagen hydrogels and amino acid sequences. 

To summarize, Telocollagen will form 3D hydrogels much faster than Atelocollagen. The resulting telocollagen gels will also be much stronger. The differences in gelation time and strength are due to the presence (telocollagen) or lack of (atelocollagen) the telo-peptide region on the collagen molecule (see image to the right).
