Chitosan / PureCol Hydrogels

Combinations of PureCol type I collagen and chitosan were prepared to improve the mechanical properties of collagen hydrogels and improve the cell-matrix interactions of standard chitosan hydrogels.
Conclusions:
- Addition of chitosan to PureCol collagen enhances collagen hydrogel mechanical properties
- Increasing chitosan to PureCol ratio increases mechanical strength but decreases cell viability. The best targeted ratio is likely to be application dependent.
