How the products were used:
PureCol® EZ Gel type I collagen was used to create innovative films representing the corneal stroma. The films provided an easily reproducible stroma model that maintained high cell viability and improved the preservation of keratocyte phenotype.
Article Conclusion:
By casting a micropattern (1,000 grooves/mm) on collagen vitrigels, they were able to make thin and transparent fllms that align cells along the grooves. This study successfully created a microstructured collagen film culture system that guides karatocytes to their native, layerwise perpendicular orientation in 3D.
