Publication Title:

Modeling Mechanical Activation of Macrophages During Pulmonary Fibrogenesis for Targeted Anti-Fibrosis Therapy

Advanced BioMatrix Products Used:

RatCol® - Rat Tail Type I Collagen, 4 mg/ml

Collagen eBrochure

How the products were used:

Researchers used rat tail collagen to help create fibrotic microtissue models, cocultured with human macrophages and fibroblasts.

Anti-fibrosis treatments were used on the microtissue models, helping understand the pulmonary fibrogenesis mechanism at the tissue level contributed by mechanically activated macrophages.

Article Conclusion:

The researchers proposed the use of their "coculture, force-sensing microtissue model as a powerful tool to study the complex immune-stromal cell interactions and the mechanism of action of anti-fibrosis drugs."
