Role of Gap Junctions in Cancer Progression

12/09/20

Publication Title:

Gap Junctions Amplify Spatial Variations in Cell Volume in Proliferating Tumor Spheroids

Advanced BioMatrix Products Used:

FibriCol® type I collagen, 10 mg/ml, atelocollagen

Collagen eBrochure

How the products were used:

FibriCol® type I collagen, 10 mg/ml, was used to create a 3D environment in order to study the role of gap junctions in cancer progression.

Article Conclusion:

"We identify how gap junctions can amplify spatial variations in cell volume within multicellular spheroids and, further, describe how the process depends on proliferation-induced solid stress. Our model may provide new insight into the role of gap junctions in breast cancer progression."
