Cytus™ Green / Red
Cytus™ Green / Red Cell Viability Kit (Calcein AM + Propidium Iodide)
Catalog #5471, #5468, #5467
Dual-color cell viability assay combining Calcein AM and Propidium Iodide for rapid, high-contrast viability assessment. Cytus™ Green labels metabolically active cells, while Cytus™ Red stains dead cells, enabling accurate imaging, cytotoxicity studies, and quantitative analysis.
Product Description
The Cytus™ Green / Red Cell Viability Kit is a dual-color fluorescence assay designed for rapid and reliable assessment of live and dead cells. It combines Cytus™ Green Calcein AM for viable cells with Cytus™ Red Propidium Iodide for non-viable cells, enabling simultaneous discrimination within mixed populations.
Cytus™ Green is a membrane-permeable, non-fluorescent compound that is enzymatically converted into fluorescent calcein in metabolically active cells. This conversion requires intact membranes and intracellular esterase activity, resulting in strong green fluorescence proportional to viable cell number.
Cytus™ Red selectively stains dead or membrane-compromised cells by intercalating into nucleic acids, producing bright red fluorescence upon binding. Together, these dyes provide a robust and widely validated method for viability assessment across a range of experimental systems.
