How the products were used:
Rat Tail Collagen from Advanced BioMatrix was used to create a biomimetic 3D model with aligned collagen fibers to evaluate tumor migration. The authors created a novel technique for aligning the collagen to mimic how cancer cells (prior to invasion), will remodel the ECM surrounding the tumor to orient the collageng fibers. This alignment seems to serve a critical purpose for regulation of cancer invasion.
Article Conclusion:
"These results indicate that our 3D dual topographical model recapitulates the preference of tumors to invade and disseminate along radially aligned fibers. We anticipate that this 3D dual topographical model will have broad utility to those studying collective tumor invasion and that it has the potential to identify cancer invasion-targeted therapeutic agents."
